A prescription is needed for physical therapy and is usually covered under insurance. After an initial evaluation, our therapist will send the evaluation to your physician. When Re:fit receives a doctor signed copy of the evaluation, it is considered an active prescription (which is required by law within the first month of treatment). |
Private or duet sessions are available. Sessions can be paid for individually or in a 10-session package. We now offer a Mat class under the instruction of Noel Brandis. |
Sessions are by appointment only. Re:fit is open Monday through Saturday with early morning and evening appointments available. Call 847.657.0881 to get started now. |

Yoga is a five thousand year old holistic approach to human health. It involves the practice
of various techniques for maintaining optimal physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well
being. The Kripalu approach to yoga is a breath and energy-based practice focusing on the
importance of awareness. During each class you are encouraged to move at your own pace
while exploring gentle stretches and poses (asanas) that improve strength, flexibility, balance
and concentration. Part of the class is devoted to breathing techniques (pranayama) and guided
meditations designed to calm restless thoughts and create an overall sense of relaxation and inner peace.

Massage therapy is an essential tool for assisting the body in circulation and delivery of vital nutrients to needed areas, releasing adhesions and scar tissue that create pain and restrict movement. Swedish relaxation massage, therapeutic deep tissue massage, and spot treatment facilitate general relaxation to provide the body and mind a much needed rest. |
Using supportive nurturing touch, Zen Shiatsu works to balance the flow of energy in the meridians of the body by nourishing areas of weakness while breaking up areas of excess stagnation. A two–handed technique is used to make a connection between different parts of the body, sometimes engaging specific acupoints, in order to restore the energetic flow throughout the body. This technique may occasionally incorporate, as appropriate, the use of the elbows or knees, or various stretches, to further deepen the connection. The recipient lies on a mat on the floor wearing loose clothing. Although the experience of receiving shiatsu is very much a physical one, the focus is on energetic and addresses the entire person, allowing for a deep connection to one's own healing energy within. |
